Transformation

Inclusive Growth.
Empowered Future.

AECI is committed to contributing towards the achievement of a sustainable socio-economic environment through the meaningful participation of Black people in the mainstream economy. AECI supports the South African government’s Broad Based Black Empowerment (“B-BBEE”) Act, No. 53 of 2003, the Codes of Good Practices gazetted in 2007 and the Amended Codes of 2013.

Our Commitment to B-BBEE

AECI fully supports the objectives of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Act, No. 53 of 2003, and the Amended Codes of Good Practice. Our transformation strategy is aligned to these frameworks, with focused efforts across ownership, management control, skills development, enterprise and supplier development, and socio-economic development.

We strive to make transformation tangible through:

  • Ownership & Equity Participation: Ensuring equitable representation of Black shareholders and meaningful participation in economic value creation.

  • Inclusive Leadership: Building diverse leadership teams that reflect the demographics of our country.

  • Skills Development: Investing in education, training and mentorship to unlock career growth for underrepresented talent.

  • Supplier Diversity: Supporting and partnering with Black-owned and Black-women-owned businesses through enterprise and supplier development initiatives.

  • Community Upliftment: Driving measurable social impact through targeted socio-economic development programmes that improve access to healthcare, education, food, and water.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Global. Inclusive. People-centred.

AECI’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion philosophy is rooted in social and economic inclusion across our global footprint. We prioritise diverse representation, equitable practice and the fostering of an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and able to contribute.

DEI at AECI goes beyond compliance. It is a strategic enabler that strengthens our people, our performance and our ability to operate sustainably for the next 100 years.

Localisation is a core element of AECI’s DEI portfolio and a key driver of social and economic inclusion across our footprint. We focus on local job creation, gender equity, inclusive procurement and community participation to strengthen local economies and ensure shared value.

Through this approach, AECI builds representative workforces and inclusive value chains that reflect the communities we serve, today and into the future.
